Soldier in battle holding a bayonet. The scene shown here might well have been drawn during the fighting on July 29, 1830. The “pig” (cochon) in the text is a cannonball, which during a battle almost strikes down a member of Napoleon's Guard. It is said that Daumier participated in the street fights of the Revolution, which started only a few days later.
