007 This segment explores the origins of the single wall construction architectural style home in Hawaii. The style dates back to when Japanese immigrants were coming to Hawaii to work on the sugar plantations. The style was created because of the scarcity of wood, and that it was a quick and cheap construction. Architect Ray Morris talks about the construction of early Japanese hosues. Architect Jim Reinhart shows a modern three story single wall style home in Hawaii. The second segment explains the process behind the Hawaii Performing Arts Company's production of the play Children of a Lesser God. The play is about the struggles that a hearing man and a deaf woman have when they enter into a relationship. The play has a hearing (Dwight Martin) and a deaf (Howie Seago) director Episode 008 explores the Hale Naua Society and the history of the pipe organ in Hawaii. The Hale Naua Society was created in 1975 by Rocky Jensen to carry on the traditions of the Kupuna Hawaiian people through the arts.
