409 - En Camino analyzes the influence of Latin artists in the creative community environment, and points to the fact that public art depends on freedom of thought and expression. States that public art reaches a multitudes of people through images that communicate profound messages that go beyond words, and share culture, utility, beauty and the creative spirit. This episode mentions the Chicano muralist movement, analyzes several Latin artists' experiences and visions, and examines the struggles and obstacles that limit public art. 410 - En Camino introduces two groups formed by Spanish speaking Latinos that organize the community to promote unity and strength for the common good in the Sonoma and Marin Counties in California. These groups are the Project to Organize Communities, an association of diverse religious groups that join efforts to resolve their parishioner's problems, and the Industrial Union that addresses labor issues. These community organization projects offer the opportunity for Latinos in the area to unite and gain the necessary power to claim services, such as child care facilities and work benefits.
