'Elder George Appleton Nickerson became seriously ill and unable to harvest his turnip crop. Neighbors and friends pitched in. The group of men, Odd Fellows, joined forces and did the job for him. Son Art, was 14 years old. They worked from 8:00-5:00 and pulled, topped, pitted, and covered 1400 bushels. Pictured, from left to right: Otto Nickerson (back row, standing, eighth from left), Harry Collins (man in front row behind basket), and the rest are unidentified. Location: Massasoit Road between the Catholic Church and Wiley Road.'
