From a series of photographs labeled "Liberation School photo essay -- Black is beautiful." The Liberation School was set up as an alternative to white-dominated schools in Boston in the fall 1968. Simmering disputes between teachers (with African American community members) over the curriculum and governance led a group of six teachers from the Gibson School in Roxbury walking out with their students.
