The Arts...In Service to Humanity, presented by Ron Maggio

Three videos of Ronald Maggio's Humanics Lecture tilted "The Arts..In Service to Humanity" given on April 20, 2006 in the Fuller ARts Center. Ronald Maggio was Springfield College's Distinguished Professor of Humanics for the 2005-2006 school year. In the lecture Prof. Maggio uses Graphic Arts, Dance, theater and the history of the Arts at Springfield College, including a recap of Ted Shawn and the creation of his all male Dance troupe using Springfield College students, to talk about Humanics. The last video shows President of Academic Affairs, Jean Wyld, announcing the 2006-2007 Distinguished Professor of Humanics as Richard D. Davila. Humanics is a word that has a special meaning in the history and philosophy of Springfield College, as well as in the college’s motto of “Spirit, Mind, and Body.” The Oxford English Dictionary defines Humanics as, “the subject or study of human affairs or relations, especially of the human element of a problem or situation as opposed to the mechanic.
