Visitors explore arts and crafts and activities for children in a tent at the Recreation Day fair in Chinatown. Recreation Day, an event held on Saturday, August 20, on Oak Street in Chinatown, celebrated the Chinatown community's success in preventing the New England Medical Center from building a parking garage on Parcel C in Chinatown. Sponsored by the Coalition to Protect Parcel C for Chinatown, Recreation Day demonstrated the Chinese community's intention to use Parcel C to build a recreation and community center. There was music, food, and games for families and children at the fair. In the foreground, two young girls play with puzzles while their mothers observe them. A young Asian woman wearing a baseball cap is sitting at the table helping them.
