The picture has been taken in connection with cultural historical characterization of the Nathanael Church, Tierp April 2007. The interior is very well preserved in original condition and has a distinct character from the national romantic and neo-classicistic style of the early 19th century. The gunhouse in the ground floor of the tower has slung brick walls that are limed in a bright color. The floor is paved with brick. The carpenters are lasered in a light brown tone with hints of English red and burnt umbra or similar pigment. The roof is a board roof with visible beams. On the left from the entrance seen, a straight staircase runs up to the gallery and on the right side there is a clothes hanger. Over the entrance to the longhouse there is a memorial plaque with a text recalling Archbishop Nathan Söderblom and the service he held in June 1922 at the place where the church was then built. The longhouse is arched with three cruise arches of sludged brick. The narrower choir is also vaulted. The walls are also slung and, like the vaults, limed in a bright sand-like colour. The vault is worn up by pilastrar on whose capitaly sits decoratively shaped copper or brass tracks that screens in front of the electric lighting. The floor in the central aisle and the choir are covered with slate slabs. Up to the choir there are two steps, also covered with slate slabs. The bench quarters on either side of the gangway are fitted with a board floor. The bench interior is glazed in light brown, just like any wooden interior in the church, and provided with details in dark soil paint. The organ launcher in the north has a barrier that is divided by arrostras in umbra-like paint with red details and the frameworks fillings are surrounded by moldings in grey green. The organ plant and the organ facade date from 1991 when it replaced an older organ. The altar is placed behind an altar ring made of wood. The altarpiece depicts the baptism of Jesus and is painted by Ole Kruse for the inauguration in 1934. The style gives associations to the painting of the Italian Renaissance. The blackboard has a lavish framing of wood with gilded details. In the chancel there is also a baptismal find of limestone. The pulpit is located next to the triumphal arch and has a separate entrance from the sacristy. It has a traditional design in Renaissance style with basket and sound roof made of lasered wood and gilded details. On one of the arches in the longhouse is a bronze plate with Nathan Söderblom’s portrait in profile.
