Tarpaulin bags for refugees

My migration story is a born-digital one. I myself have experienced migration as I worked for long years in Germany and am married to a German woman. Today, I live in the Netherlands again but still am in touch with culture lovers all over Europe. Especially on social media, where I am actively engaging with people who share my passion for digital culture. That's where I got to know Anke von Heyl, a German blogger known as Kulturtussi. When her blog had its ten-year-anniversary, she wanted to do something special. For fifteen years, she had a tarpaulin in her cellar which originated from an exhibition at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Germany. It displays a painting of the Master of the Saint Bartholomew Altarpiece. Together with the designer Mirka Brunnbauer, she transformed the tarpaulin into bags. She sold them on her blog and raised funds for a special project of hers: Together with another initiative, they planned a day full of culture for refugees in Cologne. They went to the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and took a boat trip on the river Rhine. I was one of the contributors to the project and bought one of the charity bags. This is my migration object, linked to a special story about migration and supporting each other.
