The church of the city was built between 1775-1785 by the master builder Adam Pickel. He was probably given free hands to design the church, which has a seal style with rounded corners, Romanesque style windows and a high vaulted cottage roof. The tower was erected in 1895. The bells hung before in the stylish belfry with the so-called guesthouse. The old organ from 1896 was exchanged in 1986 for a new one with 23 stamps, built by Tostared’s Orgelfabrik. The altarpiece from 1880 is painted by Professor M.E. Winge and depicts Christ on the Cross. Two beautiful cross windows date from 1916. Among the fixtures can be noticed an altar crucifix from the 15th century and a mess shake of black velvet with red cross and silver stretcher as well as the name chipper by Lars Hierta and Maria Bonde from 1721. The old church before this was built in the 1300s and was located a few hundred meters to the east, just near the buildings of the Förmestad. It was demolished when the new church began to be built. A memorial stone distinguishes the place. According to the sayings and stories, there should have been an even older church in the city of Frammestad in the 1000-1100s, east in Anestad.
