Sahlberg, Selma

In old documents a church in Hede is mentioned as early as 1391. In 1727 a simple wooden church was erected in the locality. This one was replaced in 1887 by the present church. The drawings for the new church were made by the architect of the HF Holmgren (a man who created the University building in Uppsala). The church is built entirely in wood. Among the inventories, a baptismal find, of the limestone, from the 1100s, a Madonna image of oak (from the 1300s) and the altarpiece, painted by the master Jonas Ahlstedt, Uddevalla, 1775. The tower houses a small and two large bells. The new organ is built in 1987 by the western organ building in Långaryd. It has 19 moods and is located in the southeast cross arm. Of the old organ, built in 1927 and placed on it, there is now only the facade preserved.
