The Church of the Ödsmås was erected in 1865-66 and consecrated in 1867. The newly built church replaced a medieval church (from the 1100 - 1200 century), which was demolished at the same time as the new one began to be built. That the tower is to the east and the choir to the west is to depend on the basic conditions. The altarpiece, depicting “The Institution of the Communion,” was executed by the artist Saga Walli, Gothenburg, 1944. The baptismal find is of lake drenched oak, wreckage from Käringön. It was manufactured in 1901 by Albert Johansson, Kärrsteg. A rich ciselated baptismal barrel of brass dates from 1712. The pulpit dates from the church year of construction. The paintings in the fields on the front, the Christ Monogram and the Evangelist Symbols, have been executed by Saga Walli and costed by the Ecclesiastical Society. The organ, consecrated in 1873, has been rebuilt so that it now includes 19 stamps. It was originally manufactured by S Molander, Gothenburg. The big bell, originally cast in 1587, has been re-cast in 1843 and 1951. The lily bell dates from 1953. Source: “Our Churches p. 498.”
