The photo was donated by Géza Baráth. One of the largest churches in Hungary. It was built between 1831 and 1836 on the basis of the plans of József Hild in classicist style. Four statues of St. Stephen, St. Ladislaus, St. Peter the Apostle and St. Paul the Apostle line the stairs in front of the main entrance. As for the interior, in 1832 the altarpiece depicting St. John's cooking in oil was painted by the Viennese artist Josef Danhauser. The organ was built in 1864, then modernised in 1912 and in 2000. In terms of size, sound and technique, it is one of the most important organs in the country. The sanctuary was completed by 1910, and in the 1950s the dome was painted by István Takács, an artist from Mezőkövesd, with a fresco depicting the Book of Revelation.
