Incomplete copper alloy miniature shield. The shield is flat, hexagonal in plan with oval sides, and decorated around the perimeter with raised 'torc-like' motifs. Each torc is a raised crescent with a raised pellet terminal. Approximately half of the shield is missing. The missing part is longitudinal.The shield does not appear to have a regular boss, if any at all. In the centre there is a narrow and slightly concave irregular oval that may once have represented the boss.Miniature shields are difficult to date although they are thought to range from circa 400BC to the mid-late 1st century AD.
