A Roman copper alloy miniature axe, dating AD 43-410. The object is rectangular in shape with a squared butt and a flared blade edge, giving the object a triangular profile. There appears to be a notch removed from one side of the butt end, though it is unclear whether this is later damage. the object is mid-light green with patches of light brown patina. Similar objects have been recorded with the PAS and tend to date to the Roman period, cf. NLM-C58801. Dimensions: length: 44.00 mm; width: 18.41 mm; thickness at butt: 10.85 thickness at blade edge: 2.45 mm; weight: 22.21g.
