ROMAN MINIATURE OBJECT

A copper-alloy complete miniature object which is most likely to be half of a miniature bridle and of Roman date, identified by Julian Even-Hart for the finder. Minature votive Roman objects are more commonly known in the form of axes. It consists of a central vertical shaft which tapers towards its terminal end which has a circular loop at its tip, originally this loop would have been attached to the other half of the bridle. The base of the vertical shaft meets a section horizontal bar at its centre and this bar has a D-shaped loop projecting from the centre of its lower edge. It has a dark brown reddish patina and measures 32.50mm in length and 33.98mm in width.
