A miniature copper alloy axe head with a loop on one side. The object is solid and circular in section at the socket end, with a narrower, flared blade. The blade has a curved outer edge. It may be an imitation of a Bronze Age looped socketed axe but is more likely to date from the Roman period. Roman votive models were commonly in the form of miniature axes and prehistoric metalwork has also been found in Roman votive deposits.
