A studio portrait of Arch Brown, great-grandfather of the contributor, taken when he was approximately [ 5 or 6 ] years old. Based on the straight-cut knee pants, high-buttoned waistcoat, short jacket, and the heavily tasseled and fringed plush studio armchair, the photograph is dated to the late 1880s (circa 1888). He is pictured holding a stiff, wide-brimmed summer straw hat and wearing high leather button-up boots. Arch Brown was born on January 11th, 1884 in Hamilton, Kansas. Hw was the son of Samual Curtis Brown and Sarah Allen. In lived in Hamilton, Kansas and Payette, Idaho and passed away on November 26th, 1961.This was uploaded by his great grandson, Tom Marsh.
