Hawthorn / Huath, acrylic and collage, 24x24"”, on 7/8” deep wood panel. Hawthorn / Huath is part of the Ogham Tree Alphabet series. I started with my favorite symbolic shapes, the double vesica piscis, the “donut” shape, and the arch. Each of these shapes could symbolize a portal to a magical realm. I added graceful branches of the hawthorn, known in the ancient Irish tree alphabet as Huath. The colors are mixtures that harmonize with the reds pinks and oranges of the berries.
