Folio 112v: Rustam's First Encounter with Afrasiyab

Now that the Iranians have a new shah, they are ready to revive the battle. Rustam spies Afrasivab and charges at him, grabbing him by the belt and lifting him into the air. But victory is not to be, for the belt snaps. The Turanians rush to protect the fallen warrior and spirit him away from the battlefield. The Turanians flee and eventually sue for peace, which restores the borders of Iran to those defined by Faridun.
