Studio/March,54,A05m HAND PRINTED TEXTILE EXHIBITION (NEW DELHI – MARCH, 1954) The printed cloth represented a wall curtain executed with exquisite skill and labour. The design represents and ancient art and culture from South. The colours used are indigenous vegetables matter and the processing is done with Myrabalams, Al Wood, alum, ferrous sulphate, buffalo butter, cow dung etc. The processing requires about 40 days to complete the resultant prints which are obtained in a very pleasing and subdued tones. Other colours also can be printed along. The printed sample is from Kalahasthi, South India and is said to be over 150 years old. The designs are executed both by painting and printing with wooden blocks.
