"Venus Returns" is a painting created by Lee Lanier in 2019. It is a contemporary take on the life of Venus (Aphrodite). She returns to the shore of mankind, reintroducing beauty to an ugly modern world. Aside from Venus, the characters are taken from modern and classic art (with such artists as Vermeer, Dali, Picasso, Moore, and so on). It is 6'x5', is acrylic on canvas, and took 6 months to complete.
