Review of an exhibition of I Gusti Nyoman Lempad (b.1862/75; m. 1978), an artist from Bali who was well known for his black line drawings on white papers. Lempad's subjects were mostly comprised of the daily life of Balinese people and their folklores. Written by Bambang Bujono, a writer and art critique, the review includes a comprehensive reading of Lempad's works evolution. It goes deep into Lempad's depiction of wayang characters and comparing it to Danarto's works, who also did wayang drawings. Bujono elaborated how Lempad and Danarto did share some visual similarities, despite their working period that are almost a century apart. He concluded that the substantial difference between them lays in their way to depict the narratives. Danarto's wayang drawings tend to capture one specific scene, whereas Lempad's summarize the whole story.
