A pink-red headscarf (see M6-48) with a light blue drop-out motif. The pinkish red mixed background is divided into 8 equal triangles, each with a circle. There are three different patterns used on this headscarf. The result is a work of art in itself, which has no name of its own. \The three patterns used are: \1 Bled: the lines that divide the headscarf into 8 equal triangles. This pattern is so called because the method of binding is exactly the same as for Rezabled (see 5212-9), only larger. It shows quite differently from Rezabled, and is also called Big Bled by way of distinction.‖ Kawway: the circles, one in each triangle. Kawyay is Krio for cow's eye (cf. English: cow's eye) See 5270-2 and 5270-13.\n3 Klawd: the blended background. \A headscarf was sewn from light blue cotton. The lines were tied off with thread and so were the circles. The fabric was made wet and laid on the ground. The parts that were not tied off were arranged in small piles. The synthetic paint was put into a plastic bottle and sprayed onto the fabric. Then the ties were loosened and the headscarf was rinsed ( see 5212-1). After it had dried, it was beaten for finishing (see 5270-44).Mrs. Kamara dyed this headscarf separately with the intention of selling it separately (and not in combination with a dress or lapel), which she easily succeeded in doing. After all, there is little competition because few Garak artists make headscarves. Moreover, they are relatively inexpensive: it doesn't take much fabric, knotwork and paint to make such a headscarf. So she can sell for a small price, to Sierra Leoneans and to tourists: \(a nice gift for home, such a beautiful Gara scarf).
