Digital collage / Historical layering / Poetic confrontation Terror Attack is a digitally composed artwork created in 2006 using Adobe and Paint Shop Pro on a Pentium II system. A classical-style painting of two winged figures — one reclining in red drapery, the other lifting or carrying — is overlaid with fragments of newspaper headlines referencing the September 11 attacks. The serene figures float against a backdrop of textual urgency: “Terror Attack,” “Hijacked Jets Fly Into…,” “Center, P…” — phrases torn from mass media and embedded into the visual field. This juxtaposition creates a haunting tension between divine serenity and historical trauma. The angelic embrace becomes a gesture of mourning, rescue, or transcendence, while the newspaper fragments anchor the image in collective memory and mediated catastrophe. This piece belongs to Martine Jacobs’ Archaeological Internet Art archive — a constellation of emotionally charged digital relics created before the rise of platforms and commodification.
