Excavated (1901-1904) in House Cc at Gournia, Crete. The original vase is nearly complete but restored from 86 joining fragments. This reproduction distinguishes restored from missing areas with minimal inpainting but homogenizes numerous joins between fragments to give the appearance of a nearly intact vessel. Decorated with two lively octopi amid rocks and smaller marine creatures, it is a particularly fine example of the Marine style produced at Knossos. The original is in the Herakleion Archaeological Museum, Crete.
