The wrapskirt (corte in Spanish) is woven with cotton in a hip loom. The skirt consists of one woven piece of textile. As a means of decoration the skirt has vertical lines applied by means of embroidery. An embroidery is a decorative technique in which additional threads are added to the fabric after weaving. \A wrap skirt is only used by women to cover the lower part of the body (hips, legs). In terms of function, it is similar to the skirt. A wraparound skirt is a square or rectangular piece of textile that is rolled around the body. This wraparound skirt is meant for daily use. Furthermore, the background color of the wraparound skirt is blue, as are the embellishments.‖ San Juan Atitán is located in the department of Huehuetenango. In 2007, San Juan Atitán had a population of 14,673, of which 14,631 belong to the Mam culture.
