The huipil is woven in a hip loom with industrialized cotton and silk. On the huipil brocades and embroideries have been applied. A brocade is a decorative technique where extra threads are added to the warp and weft during the weaving itself. An embroidery is a decorative technique where extra threads are added to the fabric after the weaving process is finished. Furthermore, the sleeves and neckline are decorated with green velvet. Green velvet has also been used to apply two rossettes under the neck opening and on the back.A huipil is used exclusively by women to cover the upper part of the body (torso, shoulders). This huipil is meant for ceremonial use. The huipil is richly decorated with geometric motifs. Furthermore, the huipil resembles the type of huipil used in San Martineco de Comalapa. \San Martín Jilotepéque is located in the department of Chimaltenango. In 2007, San Martín Jilotepéque had a population of 68,424 of which 60,599 belong to the Kaqchikel culture.
