Material: hand-spun cotton and embroidery cottonTechnique: plain woven and embroidered This servilleta has a white background. Because a thicker weft thread is used occasionally, there are stripes. The embroidered design is in the colors purple, red, orange and dark pink. The three times returning motif is the "petate" motive (petate means mat). Along the two outer motifs there are abstract motifs on either side. Along the middle motif (which is the widest) there are cowhide motifs on both sides. The fringe edge (along all four sides) is sewn on loosely. The background is also white. The border consists of a piece of woven fabric, with white and colored fringes. The colored fringes (purple, red, orange and dark pink) are used every 10 cm. The fringes are formed by the ends of the warp threads. This servilleta is used as a tablecloth, or to place over baskets.\Nowhere is a servilleta with a handspun white cotton fringe?
