The belt (faja in Spanish) is woven with wool in a hip loom. \A belt is the garment used to tie the wraparound skirt or trousers and hold them up. The belt also has other functions, such as providing support while performing heavy work.\ The dark blue belt is woven in with embroidery. An embroidery is a decorative technique where additional threads are added to the fabric after weaving. Although the warp threads are purple and only the weft threads are blue, the main color of the belt is blue on both sides. The middle section of the belt has horizontal yellow stripes. Both ends are embroidered with wool in geometric motifs.‖ Purchased at the market and tiendas (shops) for Q 2.50.‖ Sacapulas is located in the department of El Quiché.
