This blouse (blusa in Spanish) is made with factory fabric. The blouse is gathered at an embroidered pass. The embroidery is partly done by hand, partly by sewing machine, which is typical for the Nahuas of Chachahuantla (1975). All the material comes from the factory. The colour of the embroidery is red. The front and back of the embroidered pass consists of a narrow and a wider stylized border, in which floral motifs and a wide border, also stylized with rosettes. The sleeve is also embroidered in this way. Around it, narrow and wide edges of a decorative stitching are made by machine in dark red. Also the shoulder pass and a piece along the side seam downwards consist of wide, stitched edges.\See also no. 4880-548 for a similar blouse.\An embroidery is a decorative technique in which extra threads are added to the fabric. Further, a blouse is used exclusively by women to cover the upper part of the body (torso, shoulders).‖ In 1963, Dr. Irmgard Weitlaner wrote the following about the blouses of the women of Chachahuantla: \"(they are) blouses of cotton mill or poplin, elaborately embroidered and decorated with thread. Red is the most prominent color. The embroideries are made with a sewing machine. It is an activity that takes a lot of work and it is also expensive! Some blouses have thread from four boxes (each box contains 12 spools of thread), other blouses are the result of combinations of machine work and pepenado (?).‖ In this case, the blouse is hand embroidered (lighter red) and machine embroidered (darker red). The embroidery that was done by hand includes motifs of flowers within diamond motifs on the front and back of the blouse; on the shoulders, motifs of stylized flowers are embroidered with a zigzag pattern.
