Patch of red silk (now discoloured to beige), on which an inscription in Arabic script is embroidered in the centre and in each corner a half-moon with star using silk and metal thread. The inscription is probably the name of the owner: ?? Ebrahim Pasha. Given the crescent moon with star and the title Pasha, it is quite possible that the cloth is from Turkey and not Iran.According to the original registration card, this item was used by men as a bath towel. However, this cannot be confirmed. It could also be a shawl. The nature of the embroidery suggests cottage industry rather than professional embroidery. (GVE, 2002)
