This apron is woven in a hip loom with cotton. The colourful horizontal stripes alternate with stripes in Jaspe pattern. The Jaspe pattern is less refined than before. Jaspe is a dyeing technique in knots where decorative motifs are produced. Specific parts of the thread are covered (by knotting the thread in specific places) to prevent these parts from being coloured when the thread is dipped in the paint. When the knots are undone, after dyeing, the thread contains dyed and unpainted segments. During the weaving process, figures are formed with these threads. \The border at the bottom is finished with a ruffle of the same fabric and consists of two parts.Ó At the top, on the right, there is an insert pocket, which is made of a blended fabric at the back. The top is pleated and finished on the inside with a blended fabric, from which the strap protrudes on both sides. A white ribbed band is applied to the fabric for decoration.Purchased at the market in Cantel for Q 3, -. San Miguel Totonicapán is located in the department of Totonicapán.
