A three-panel 'huipil' woven on a hip loom by the Tacuate women of Santa Maria Zacatepex Oax. The material is white cotton, in the middle strip on each side there is a nearly 3 cm. wide band of red coloured cotton woven in. The upper part around the round neckline trimmed with orange threads is embroidered on the front and back with geometric and animal motifs in various colours. In all three strips we find colourful cotton embroideries or woven patterns, the strips are sewn together with mainly red coloured cotton threads; the armholes are trimmed with purple. The huipil was bought on the spot for 300 pesos.\ See also no. 4436-123.
