ROMAN BROOCH

An incomplete Roman (AD 55-100) copper-alloy Colchester derivative (two-piece) brooch. It measures 31mm in length. The head of the brooch has both wings intact; they are shallowly curved. From just the drawing it is difficult to say if any of the spring mechanism survives. The bow curves in a smooth arc and tapers towards the foot. The catch-plate survives.
