Body sherd from a pottery vessel of medieval date (1100 – 1300). The exterior surface of the vessel is heavily sooted suggesting that it was used on a fire for cooking. The sherd is relatively large with no abraded edges, suggesting it has come from an undisturbed archaeological context. The internal edge has a series of circumferential groves created by the pottery when drawing up the edges of the vessel. The sherd measures 46mm length, 36.2mm width is 7.0mm thick and weighs 12.05 grams.
