The Portable Antiquities Scheme

A copper alloy, circular seal matrix, tapering hexagonal handle intact, terminating in a circular suspension loop with small projection above; suspension aperture is circular. Handle bent to one side as shown in drawing; vertical lines cut into it, stopping short of the rim. Device of a shield bearing a boar's head between three cinquefoils pierced; above the shield, an eagle displayed. A line separates the shield from the legend area; eagle obscures the line and projects into the lettering, occupying the position of the cross which frequently opens legends. Measurements: 19 mm diameter x 23 mm high; weight 14.4 g.
