A cast copper alloy unidentified object, possibly part of a Roman camp(aign) folding stool (sella castrensis) dating from c.AD 43-410. It is of roughly cylindrical shape with a disk shaped protuberance in the centre. Transverse ridge decoration is apparent around both ends of the mount. The object appears to be complete and worn and it is very likely that it was part of a Roman camp(aign) folding stool (Tim Padley, Keeper of Archaeology at Carlisle's Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, pers. comm.).
