This is the head of an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. Late 5th century to early 6th century AD. The knob at the top is missing (drawing of complete brooch) The silver inlay is very unusual. The silver appears to fold over the break was threaded through a hole drilled in the lower part of the bow. The silver is crimped wire rather than coiled.Being recorded from an illustraion on an identification record from 1996.
