Copper alloy and iron probable furniture fitting. A cast conical fitting with an iron pin for fixing in its base. The object comprises an upper conical element and a bulbous lower part with a flat end; staining may result from the corrosion of iron sheathed in copper alloy. This technique is characteristic of some Romano-British work, drawing on Late iron Age tradition. An alternative identification for the object as a knob detached from a cruciform brooch was considered, though the elongated and pointed form would be uncommon for that object class.
