Late Saxon buckle frame, badly corroded in patches, D-shaped with Borre-style animal-head on outside edge with engraved pointed oval eyes and drilled dots in prominent ears forming pin rest, similar animal-heads at both ends of narrowed bar with D-sectioned pin, segmented geometric decoration on bevelled frame, 43 x 38mm. Cf. drawing of similar example from Fulmodeston (HER 17342). 10th–11th century. Other examples of this type of buckle on the PAS database include SF7560, SF-9F02E3, SF-79DAF8, SF-76F478 and CORN-EC5F13, and rectangular variants at HAMP-BA9FC0 and LVPL-99FBD2 (found in Suffolk).
