Watercolour drawing of the left leg and foot showing gangrene of the toes and part of the foot. The patient was a woman aged 63 years. Four years previously the great toe had become gangrenous and separated. The knee became ankylosed. Gangrene of the foot followed forcible straightening of the knee.
