Face of patient with large, primary syphilitic ulcer

Watercolour drawing of the face of a patient with a large spreading ulcer affecting the inner corner of the eyelids, with the left side of the nose and cheek. The ulcer had many of the characters of a primary syphilitic sore. It healed under the influence of black-wash and mercury administered internally.
