Pencil with watercolour and gum arabic drawing showing the appearance of syphilitic infection in a 24-year-old male. There is an open sore on the penis; inguinal lymph node enlargement; and skin rash on thighs and abdomen. The patient was an outpatient at the Royal Free Hospital, London, under the care of Victor de Meric.
