Vesicles on the tongue preceding aphthae

Watercolour drawing of the tongue of a boy, about ten years old, showing a group of vesicles near the tip. These vesicles were probably the precursors of aphthous ulcers, from which several of the children of the family were or had been suffering. The boy was not seen again. The tongue was coated and the breath was foul. Consulting Room, June 1886.
