Reproduction of the lower part of female figure from the "Procession" fresco

Excavated 1900 in the South Propylaeum, Knossos.The white feet of this figure led Evans to identify a female who wears an elaborately ornamented skirt. The borders of her skirt consist of rows of circles and stylized altars with incurving sides, executed in blue, red, yellow and white. Evans commissioned from E. Gillieron, pere a fully restored version of this figure who he identified as a queen and then a goddess holding aloft double axes. She became the focal figure of the Procession fresco approached by numerous people, including the "Cup-Bearer" in E. Gillieron, fils later heavily restored version published in the second volume of Evans's Palace of Minos at Knossos. The original is in the Archaeological Museum of Herakleion, Crete.
