Swatches of fabric are gathered to determine which will work best for each character, scene and color palette. These are shared with the production designer and sometimes the cinematographer (UCLA). Small pieces of material such as textile, leather, or paper, either individual pieces or groups of them bound together, especially when issued by a single manufacturer.(AAT)
