Blue dyed, long, dress-like robe with white and brown cut-out motif (see M6-46). On a dark blue background a white circular binding. The white circles (about 1cm) form a spiral (largest diameter about 40cm) around one larger white circle (diameter about 4cm). The space between the spirals is filled up with brown-yellow circles. Using, for example, a plate or round dish, large circles (diameter about 40 cm) were drawn on white damask. Small circles (diameter approximately 1 cm) were tied off with thread; starting on the large circle, spirals were formed towards the middle. The center was tied with one larger circle. After all large circles were tied off Mrs. Kamara (see M6-46) dyed the fabric in Kola brown. Then the spaces between the large circles were also tied off with small circles (diameter about 1 cm), following the curves of these circles as much as possible. The ties were loosened and the fabric was rinsed and dried. The tailor sewed a gawn(M6-48) from it. When the gawn was new, the small circles, which spiral to form the large circles, were probably light blue. They have turned white with frequent washing. \This gawn belonged to Mrs. Kamara. She wore this gawn for example when she went shopping in town. The gawn is very beautiful in terms of pattern (a time-consuming pattern which has been very neatly tied), color (dyed twice in natural dyes Kola and Indigo), quality of fabric (damask) and amount (the fabric has not been used sparingly; the gawn is very wide). To this end, she sold it to K.K.Gerbrands in early 1983.
