Pendant to wear as head ornament

This type of pendant was attached to the side of the head through the headscarf. The type was worn not only in Yemen but also in Saudi Arabia, where it was worn by Bedouin women (Ross 1978: 109). This type of pendant consists of either one or two triangles stacked on top of each other.‖ This pendant has not only an ornamental function but also a magical-protective value. The points of the triangle are said to drive away evil. The sound of the bells attached to the hanging chains is also said to have a repellent effect. In addition, the color red is considered a powerful healing agent because of its association with life, fertility and health. The red color is also said to help stop bleeding. \ManufactureThis pendant consists of a triangular hammered silver plate on which suspension eyelets are soldered at the bottom and top. At the top a cotton braided cord is threaded through this, and at the bottom three different types of link chains with thirteen bells of different sizes are attached to this.‖ Along the edges of the triangle, gallery wire is soldered which has been provided with braided wire motif and pearl frames by a hand roller. The surface is further decorated with three small and one large red glass bead. The bells consist of two driven halves which are soldered together. The soldering seam is hidden by profiled silver wire.
