Pineapple Tin Punch

This tin punch features the outline of a pineapple enclosed in an oval. During the Colonial era, the rare fruit was often displayed by members of the upper class and it came to represent hospitality. Perhaps artist Ira Blount intended to invoke a symbol of welcoming in his modern take on the traditional, eighteenth-century craft.
